QTAB V1-Budget tablet by QMobile

Overview

So, there are lots of new tablet choices coming out in the market along with lots of e-readers that are built around good, solid tablet technology. But one of the primary reasons some of us get tablets is to read books. In in a third world countries like Pakistan with power issues such devices are greatly beneficial even for students to keep their learning/reading on the tablet flawlessly even if there is no power. Plus they will be having Internet connection and wifi to surf the web and social apps like facebook whatsapp to stay connected, with a font camera it enables you for video calling.

Quick Review Of QTAB V1

Pros

Not Chinese first original tablet from QMobile with one year warranty
Good screen ratio for book reading and internet browsing.
                    Pretty solid touch digitizer
Fairly thin and light. Nice design.
                    Minimal Chinese bloat ware pre-installed.
MicroSD card slot for expandability and side loading.
                    Enjoyable web browsing experience.
                    Micro-usb port… for transfer and/or charging.

Cons

512 Mb RAM causes little bit lagging
8GB storage…. not bad, but not particularly good.
No rear camera and the front camera is weak sauce, but BARELY adequate.

Verdict

Not a bad little tablet for just 4999 PKR.A 7inch display screen, reading app compatibility, and the fact that this costs less than a third of the cheapest iPad mini makes this a compelling e-reading alternative. If you decide to get one, do yourself a favor and order it from a Emarket like Hitmobile.pk.

Hardware and Design

Nothing much to see here. Like most Chinese tablets, this one is pretty plain-Jane. If you’ve seen any QTAB before, you'll know what to expect here. This isn’t a bad thing, though. Corners are rounded, the front is nice and clean, with only the obligatory QMobile logo, and nothing is really cluttered anywhere. The back is a pleasant Black with a VERY slight texturing and only the one speaker grill along with some obligatory text.

A micro usb power jack, a mic, headphone port, and micro-sd/tf card port. Nice and simple. I like it when manufacturers keep tablets this clean, and QTAB has always been good about that. The CPU is nothing to write home about, but it gets the job done, the RAM is minimal, storage is acceptable, and the battery life is an about average 2200 mAhNothing eye-catching, but all decent, nonetheless.

Screen

Really, here’s the whole reason I got this tablet. Cheapest device with 7inch display screen is like a mini cinema for me for watching movies playing games in my couch more over for reading news papers, ebooks and magazines

Software

In regards of software and OS, QTAB V1 is pretty much up to date .With a 4.4 android kitkat android version it’s capable of handling majority of apps available at Google play store

As an eReader

Well, it’s no Nook HD... the resolution is fair  but text looks pretty sharp in the e-reading apps, surfing the various shops and conducting searches is a fairly nice experience (especially since the virtual keyboard doesn’t eat the whole screen), and the apps are actually quite responsive. Because of the screen aspect, this thing rocks, here. I have no complaints as in just 4999 pkr QMobile is providing enough even more than enough.

Android Apps

The QTAB V1 is capable of installing and running majority of apps available on app store because of its dual core cpu and android kitkat version. Video calling apps are also supported in QTAB V1

Games

Not bad... I was pleasantly surprised by this single core processor. Bad Piggies(choppy on some mainstream single core tablets with faster processors) actually runs pretty smoothly.

Audio /Speakers

Headphones sound good on this unit. that is, headphones except for the ones it’s packaged with. Those are crap. The speaker is respectably loud, if a bit tinny.

Videos and HDMI

HDMI? We don’t need no stinking HDMI. No video out, at all. Videos on the screen are a bit pixilated, due to the aspect ratio and limited resolution, but streaming video played just fine, all at full speed. Not bad. Not particularly good, but not bad.
Who should buy this?
And yes the answer is the pricing that is half of even the Chinese or local brands but with complete warranty from digicom under the flag of QMobile
